What employers ask for

Two views on the same question. A one-off analysis of more than 10,000 LinkedIn job postings for the 2026 report, and a monthly count of every Dutch and Belgian job posting in the AI Skill Monitor.

LinkedIn analysis · early 2026

63% of job postings mention an AI skill

Not only in technical vacancies: across the whole sample. And four role families appear that barely existed three years ago.

  • Prompt EngineerTechnical. Presented as past its peak: prompting is folding into every role.
  • AI Product OwnerTechnical and business. Translates AI possibilities into products and processes.
  • AI CoachOrganisational. Helps teams adopt AI in daily work.
  • AI Governance and Ethics OfficerOrganisational. Decides what is allowed, and makes sure it is followed.
Two of the four roles are not technical. Employers are hiring for the governance gap, not only the skills gap.
